Dencun (Cancun + Deneb) upgrade

  • Latest all core devs – execution (ACDE) call video. Notes from Tim Beiko:
    • Devnet-11: mostly stable
    • Devnet-12: planned for next week if 3+ CL clients are ready
    • Goerli: upgrade unlikely in December; client team & EF validators will be stopped 3 months after upgrading (or 1 month after mainnet upgrade if later), then 1 month of chaos testing
    • eth_multicallV1 proposed addition to JSON RPC

Centralization watch: threatening the value of your ETH

  • 🚨 Lido at 32.00% is increasing towards 33.3% threshold
    • Lido node operator InfStones server vulnerabilities disclosed
  • Client diversity (via clientdiversity.org):
    • Execution layer: Geth ~85% supermajority, could possibly cause a chain split
    • Consensus layer: Prysm 41% & Lighthouse 34%, any client bug over 33.3% could mean loss of finality
  • Geographic diversity needed, particularly outside of North America & Europe
